How to set up a project in Maya.

. Set a New Project

  1. File Menu: Go to the File menu at the top left of the screen.

  2. Project Window: Select Project Window from the drop down menu. This opens the Project Window dialog.


Create a New Project


  1. New: In the Project Window dialog, click the New button.

  2. Name Your Project: Enter a name for your project in the Name field.

  3. Location: Choose the location on your computer where you want to save the project folder. Click the Browse button next to the Location field to select a directory.

  4. Project Directories: Maya will automatically create a series of subfolders within the main project folder. These include folders for scenes, source images, render data, and more. You can customize these if needed, but the default structure is usually sufficient.

  5. Accept: Click the Accept button to create the project. Maya will now create the project directory with all the necessary subfolders.




Set the Current Project

  1. Set Project: Go to the File menu again and select Set Project.

  2. Select Your Project Folder: Browse to the folder of the project you just created and select it.

  3. Set: Click the Set button to set the current project.


Reference all assets

  1. open reference editor: Go to File > reference editor.

  2. reference all assets: open reference editor> go to File> create reference.


 Save Your Work

  1. Save Scene: Go to File > Save Scene As.

  2. Scene Name: Enter a name for your scene and ensure it is saved in the scenes folder of your project directory.

  3. Save: Click the Save As button.
